‘Introduce your children to the beauty that lies within their souls. Instill it into them before the media defines it for you, and their precious eyes will always see their worth.’
‘Don’t seek to be relevant, or liked, seek to be undeniable. Seek to be compassionate. Seek integrity. Seek humility. Seek Light.’
One of my really good friends actually asked me if I wanted to write a lil something about this subject and of course I said yes, since this subject is getting more serious by the day.
Now, I’ve dealt with very low self image for a long period of time. I think this is something every teenager deals with at one point and it’s starting to get human which is not right. There’s so much I want to say about this subject, that I have no idea where to start.
Body image and self image is something that can be a huge problem for EVERY body type, which people tend to forget about a lot. I’m a very tall, curvy girl, but that doesn’t give me the right to write songs like ‘all about that bass’ or to tell my friends, who are skinnier, to ‘stop complaining because they’re thin’. Just because someone is skinnier than me, it doesn’t give them the right to tell me to eat less. Never ever think you have the right to tell someone what they have to do with their body. It’s theirs. Don’t ever let anyone tell you what to do with your body. No matter if it’s losing weight or sending a picture of your boobs to a guy from school. You and only you have the right to decide what to put in your body and how to show it of. I think this is something that a lot of teenagers forget about. We’re getting brainwashed by everything that’s being put on the internet and it makes us the most insecure, troubled generation that has ever lived. We’re being raised to be the most close minded generation of this lifetime, but all we need is to get more open minded. Low self image shouldn’t even be a thing, but it is. Your body is like a car that’s on a roadtrip around the world; once it’s returned home, it’s dirty, full of bumps and scars, but at the end of the day it’s been treated with nothing but love. Treat your body with nothing but love and health. Whenever someone points out something about you that makes you really upset, immediately delete them out of your life. Whenever you stumble upon an article about ‘how to get a perfect…’, just don’t read it, turn off your phone and go read a book or do whatever makes you happy. Confidence will only come from happiness and an open mind. Once you learn how to make yourself the happiest version of you, I promise, you’ll treat your body like a pretty flower. Very careful and with nothing but love. Confidence has nothing to do with minding what others think about you. It’s all about what you think of you and you better love yourself, cause you’re the prettiest soul. There’s nothing wrong with confidence and pointing out how pretty your hair looks today. Spread love and you’ll get an even more amount of love back. You’re a human with the exact same bones and organs as everyone else and just because you might have a smaller booty or bigger ears, it doesn’t make you less worthy. You’re so important to the world. Your smile can be so important to someone. Someone out there is longing for your lips. Someone out there is willing to go through fire for you. Never ever think you’re not noticed, not worthy or not important. Cause darling, you fucking are.
