How to: have a ‘perfect day’.


I personally don’t believe in having a ‘perfect day’, because we all feel sad sometimes. There are so many things you can’t control, but you can make the best out of your day by controlling the things you can control. That was a whole mouth full. Surrounding yourself by whatever makes you feel good about yourself and life in general, can overpower the negative and as long as you have control over that, you’ll have a pretty awesome day.

Making the best out of your day is so simple, yet it looks so hard. Start by setting goals for yourself, not expectations. Write down/think about whatever you’d like to accomplish that day. Whatever you want to accomplish can variate from just being happy or finishing a project for school/work. As long as you don’t expect yourself to accomplish these goals, you’ll already feel better about yourself. You can’t force yourself to be happy, so when something unexpected happens that day that makes you sad; be sad, but make sure you go to sleep with a positive, peaceful mindset. As long as you start whatever tasks/projects you need to do a few days ahead, you won’t feel stressed when you don’t have enough time to finish it that day. Tomorrow is a new day.

Surround yourself by positivity, light and rest. Personally, I find waking up to a clean and organized room, so much more empowering than waking up to a messy room. Now, I suck at keeping my room clean and this normally doesn’t work for me, so if you’re just like me, try to clean up everything you can before going to bed. Quotes are a good thing to wake up to in the morning. If you don’t like quotes, then just wake up to whatever makes you happy. Maybe it’s coffee or a picture with your best friends. I have quotes hanging all over my room and a storage box saying ‘New York’ on my night stand, since that’s my dream destination. Positivity is key. As long as that’s the first thing you wake up to, you’ll already have a more positive outlook for the rest of the day.

Have you ever noticed that junk food and candy actually makes you feel very unhealthy, unhappy an sluggish? It’s so easy to reach for something like chocolate, since it’s one of the cheapest products you’ll find while running errands and we’re the generation who grew up with more unhealthy food being produced by the day. It’s something we reach for when we’re sad, but we don’t realize it eventually makes us even sadder. Try to replace the unhealthy food for healthy food. It doesn’t have to happen overnight. Try to take baby steps. Once you’re eating healthier, you’ll feel so much happier and greater about yourself. But hey, you don’t have to listen to me of course. If chocolate does make you happy, let it make you happy.

It’s okay to be sad, it’s okay to be overly happy, it’s okay to be a total control freak, it’s okay to have a messy room. Just try to make the best of your day, your life. Surround yourself by the people who are as driven and passionate as yourself. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Just be happy my love, that smile looks good on you.
